On March 28, 2012, transplant professionals from UPMC’s Thomas E. Starzl Transplantation Institute will host an educational town hall event to provide referring physicians and kidney and pancreas transplant candidates with information about the transplantation process. Topics will include:
- determining who is an appropriate candidate for a kidney or pancreas transplant
- advances in transplantation surgery
- social, emotional and financial considerations
- personal experiences from transplant recipients
This program is intended for physicians interested in referring to the Kidney and Pancreas Transplant program at UPMC. It will also benefit candidates for kidney and pancreas transplants, family members, and allied health professionals who want more information about UPMC Transplantation Services.
